Our life long experience of managing our own factories has been used to develop these facilities to produce the best workwear possible and has culminated, with our help, in this business becoming a main supplier of uniform to the British MOD for the last 7 years - having passed all the ethical and environmental requirements that this sort of contract requires. We have been dealing with this factory for over 20 years and have an excellent working relationship.
At this factory, employment is greatly treasured. The new factory is built to SA8000 accreditation where the staff quarters have excellent facilities and accommodation:
The factory has achieved the following accreditations:
- BRC Global Standard
- Oeko-Tex 100.confidence in Textiles
The other factory, which was set up with our help, and had the Denny's business as its only customer in the beginning, is now a major supplier to the UK NHS and training college trade.
Our factory in the Faisalabad area of Pakistan is in a factory complex where the cloth is woven and dyed, ensuring minimal transport miles for the raw material, and is pioneering the low water usage methods of cloth production.
Unusually, this factory has a record of achieving continued employment for women machinists after they are married, which is often not allowed by new husbands in their culture. In addition, this family-run factory provides:
- Escorted taxi to and from work, which gets the approval of parents
- Walled garden for workers relaxation and midday rest time
- Advanced hanging transport system for garment assembly ensuring cleanliness and efficiency.
The factory has achieved the following accreditation:
- Oeko-tex – Issued by Shirley Technologies, Manchester
- WRAP - Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production - www.wrapcompliance.org.
In northern Portugal the factory is run by "Mum", who has developed the business from artisanal beginnings in a room in her house to a modern factory employing 50 staff, including her son and his wife along with various aunts and uncles. Every garment gets the love and attention that is so impressive to see in this day and age. Selling their production is a pleasure. They have no formal accreditation, as such, - mainly due to their size, but comply with all EU and H&S regulations and, in our opinion, are compatible with SA8000 standards. Denny's has been most impressed with quality, cleanliness and working conditions when visiting the factory.
